Pinot Days Festival

Brilliant, Haunting, Subtle, Hypnotic

Let’s reflect for a moment. Close your eyes… woah, wait a sec. Keep ‘em open. Much better. Let’s imagine, with your eyes open, that you own a vineyard specializing in mid-tier merlots. Then the movie Sideways premiers and crushes your grape. Ouch.

Pinot Days Logo pictureFortunately, the pinot, unlike its crestfallen comrade the merlot, is celebrated for its frailty—thin-skinned, capricious, petulant. Stemming from their love for the “noble grape,” Steven and Lisa Rigisich through their non-profit Bay Area Wine Project are hosting the 5th annual Pinot Days at the Fort Mason Center. Unlike other mass-produced events, Pinot Days offers unparalleled access to the wine makers and owners who do all the pourings. These conversations infused with the tastings provide the backstories describing what goes into cultivating brilliant, haunting, subtle, and hypnotic Pinot Noir. (dusting off my wine tasting vocabulary.)

The Grand Tasting will feature over 200 wineries pouring over 600 distinct pinots. Not sure if this tasting is for you? Rigisich intimates, “Pinot Days will never become an elitist event affordable only to the rich, nor will it become an insider event accessible only to industry folks and pinot geeks like us.”

And the weekend weather will be superb—high 70′s and clear blue skies!

Till next time!
