Small Film Makers Hit the Big Screen
[Queue the trumpets. Part the red curtains.]
It’s time to get things started on the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational… ok, perhaps not exactly like the Muppet Show, but the San Francisco Frozen Film Festival flaunts the zaniness and idiosyncratic edge of a Jim Henson creation.
S.F.F.F.F… pronounced just like the sound of the wind whistling through your friend’s cell phone… hmm, let’s just skip the acronym. The San Francisco Frozen Film Festival showcases a range of films including a feature skate/surf film with Tony Hawk and Jack Johnson, a “real 8 mile” film featuring white rappers, and the Snake—a movie about “an inveterate womanizer living in a post-feminist world.” The Frozen Film Fest celebrates the talented, yet undiscovered film makers who have the skills of a mainstream director just not the marketing budget of the summer blockbusters. All movies will be screened at the 300-seat Roxie Theater founded exactly 100 years ago in the Mission District.
My friends, you are also invited to join the directors, musicians and hipsters at the Opening Night mixer at the Space Gallery going off Thursday, July 9th at 7pm. The Frozen Film Festival is a 501(c)3, meaning donations are welcomed!
Till next time!
