Oy Vey! Thursdays

Chagall Exhibit and Manischewitz Shooters

Thursdays haven’t been this exciting since Seinfeld was batting cleanup for Must See TV.

Contemporary-Jewish-Museum-Building.jpgYou’ve experienced the Thursday nights at the SFMOMA with the curator lectures and the decadent desserts served on the Rooftop Sculpture Garden… right? You’ve definitely done the thumping music, cocktails, penguins, and a general “broadening of the mind” at the Cal Academy of Sciences Nightlife.

Well, there’s a new kid in town and he’s wearing a yarmulke.

Chagall-Introduction-to-Jewish-Theater-Mural.jpgThis Thursday, the Contemporary Jewish Museum serves up a kosher night of festivities for both Jews and Gentiles. The “must see” exhibit is Chagall and the Artists of the Russian Jewish Theater, 1919-1949, featuring over 200 remarkable works from the early years of the Soviet Union. In the spirit of fusing past with present, comedian Nato Green will perform standup… and what better way to soften up the crowd than with a few libations. In this case, Manischewitz shooters! They’re not just for Passover!

Like grapes, good things come in bunches. Right outside the museum, the Yerba Buena Garden Festival hosts their monthly Let’s Go Dance@Jessie. This night will be especially funky – Jesús Díaz y Su QBA creates an Afro-Cuban musical stew mixing funk, jazz, rumba, and son. Bailemos!
