Comstock Saloon Rides Into Town

A Toast to the Barbary Coast

Comstock Saloon Mahogany Bar
Long day at the office? Instead of simply punching out, now you can hang up the spurs and mosey on over to the Comstock Saloon, opening tomorrow in North Beach.

Parlor Room Vintage Couch - Comstock SaloonThis throwback cantina is a tip of the hat to the days when gunslingers took swigs of tarantula juice and dined on hearty pot pies. Comstock retained the century-old single plank, mahogany bar along with…

John Campbells Irish Bakery

True virtuosos name their businesses after themselves. Gary Danko’s, Ike’s Place, Philz Coffee, Mitchell’s (ice cream… although the O’Farrell Theater also had its day). After all, when your name is on the door, you tend to work a little harder.

Secret Nanobreweries

Still searching for that quaint, neighborhood pub “where everybody knows your name?”

After years of challenges, the accomplished and magnanimous owners share their dream, a dazzling design, the Shangri-La on 6th Street… a nostalgic cafe in the morning metamorphosizing into a lively, yet enchanting French bistro into the evening. Simply walking through the wooden double doors will transport you back to the early 1900s as they restored the original detailing of the foyer. Inside, the milieu is majestic…
