Google Maps, Double True
Shop local at a San Francisco farmers’ market. Now there’s a Google map showcasing all the farmers’ markets, color-coded by the day of the week. Sure, you’ve been to the Saturday Ferry Plaza market. But did you know that the Sunday morning market at Fort Mason Center now hosts their market year-round?
Still searching for that quaint, neighborhood pub “where everybody knows your name?”
Say “Cheers” at a couple clandestine spots in the City: the Elizabeth Street Brewery and Clara Street Brewery. Limited to under 200 gallons of craft beer each year, these underground speakeasies are a celebration of homebrewing… the adventure of concocting both traditional and exotic brews. There are no rude bouncers or posted hours. Instead, there’s an ethos that if the door is open, walk on in. You’ll enjoy a serendipitous afternoon drinking beers and sharing laughs amongst friends.
Elizabeth Street Brewery, nested in a renovated storage room, is a “pub for the people, by the people.” Homebrewing since 2003, Richard’s dream is to open a full-scale family brewpub in Noe Valley. He is currently brewing out of the ultimate man cave…
A Toast to the Barbary Coast

Long day at the office? Instead of simply punching out, now you can hang up the spurs and mosey on over to the Comstock Saloon, opening tomorrow in North Beach.
This throwback cantina is a tip of the hat to the days when gunslingers took swigs of tarantula juice and dined on hearty pot pies. Comstock retained the century-old single plank, mahogany bar along with…
True virtuosos name their businesses after themselves. Gary Danko’s, Ike’s Place, Philz Coffee, Mitchell’s (ice cream… although the O’Farrell Theater also had its day). After all, when your name is on the door, you tend to work a little harder.
Enter John Campbell.
John Campbell’s Irish Bakery just set up their second shop in San Francisco. Their freshly baked goods blossoming from cloth-lined baskets evokes the warm memories of grandma’s freshly baked pie cooling on the window sill.

They say you can't judge a book by its cover... but that was long before there was the magical Kindle 2 which absolutely requires a cover for safety and style.
The Kindle 2 might not have come into this world naked... but pretty darn close. Amazon's prepackaged cover would've been great for a hotel pad of paper and a pen. But job numero uno for a cover is safety. (safety never takes a holiday.) So for a $300+ device, I require a durable cover that will protect my Kindle if I accidentally gravity test it.
The Bobarra Thoreau cover has 4 elastic bands securely latching my Kindle into the cover. Thoreau once said that “books are the carriers of civilization.” But when civilization needs to carry their book, they don't want to be worried about dropping them. For someone who is always running around, I sincerely appreciate the safety of the Thoreau.
But I'm not one to compromise on style. I love the sleek brown leather with fastidious stitching around the edges... professional and cool—I've gotten a few inquiries about where I purchased this cover while riding the bus around town.
Overall, I am very happy with my Kindle 2 and love my Thoreau cover.
